I want to talk to you about a framework for strategic thinking. As a church leader, you likely strive for continuous improvement in your ministry. This framework can help you think about what’s working well, or even address what’s not working so well. Walking through this process will ultimately help you discover what to do next in your ministry to move it forward.
First, we are going to look at our present reality. And that is the data. What are the facts of the situation? Is there a problem? Is there something that’s working that could be working better? How do we improve upon that?
Next, we move into diagnosis, which is present theory. Here we are theorizing. We are diagnosing the current reality, and seeing what is causing this issue and contributing to the data.
Then, we are looking at future theory. What direction are we going to go? We’re anticipating what our next move might be. What strategies can we use to address these current issues?
Finally, we move in to our future reality. We are going to take decisive action on what you will do next. What are the specific next steps? Who is going to accomplish those things?
Now that you understand this framework for strategic thinking and how to maximize your ministry, what are you going to do about it?
