We have all served in a church or organization in which there is no rhyme or reason for progression. Sometimes you spin and you move all the way up to the top. And sometimes you spin and move down, and there’s not something visible to answer, “Hey, why did this happen?”
May it never be in your church or organization.
Every person in the game needs to know what is their next step. That next step should be easy, obvious, and strategic. The next step should be very, very clear. The way you can do that is making sure you have a leadership pipeline in place with clear next steps and clear competencies. Doing so ensures everyone knows their pathway for leadership development. When you do that, you can quickly and easily tell each person what is their next step so that they can move on and move up.
